II first started dancing at weekly classes in 2008 and then when I later moved to London ended up at classes and socials nearly every night of the week, talk about addicted! I think my longest straight was 13 nights by a in a row.
These days I’m based in Oxford but travel a bunch to Bristol, Southampton, London and Birmingham (among others) I teach salsa with an emphasis on connection and technique. I love teaching role rotation and role reversal classes. As well as being great fun, these are a great way to improve technique through empathy and connection. In my classes we avoid gender roles and don’t care who leads or follows as long as everyone enjoys themselves and learns something!
My top tip for being a better dancer is to learn to listen to your partner through the physical connection you have on the dance floor and remember that everyone will lead and follow slightly differently, Oh and NO THUMBS.
My favourite thing about Viva is the people, It’s always been such a great and friendly bunch of
people who just want to enjoy the week chatting and dancing and making friends.
